The eyes and
climate change

Climate change happening in our planet is mainly due to the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) from electricity generation based on fossil fuels.

Among these, one of the most damaging for atmosphere conservation is carbon dioxide and we must remember that the primary function of the atmosphere is to protect against solar radiation and its effects.

Thinking in terms of the effects on humans, the Ministry of Health issued a statement, which recommends that people protect themselves against the effects of heat and sunlight. The damage from sunlight is due to two types of the so called ultraviolet rays: UVA and UVB. Between the two, the radiation difference is in the skin and eye penetration capacity; which are two of the organs that are most exposed to the environment. Therefore, the Atmospheric Monitoring System of Mexico City registered high levels of UV rays during the current year, so they recommend the use of sunscreen and clothing that cover most of your skin, as well as glasses to protect the eyes.

Unlike the visible effects that UV ray exposure causes the skin, eye problems have no discomfort until after a considerable amount of time, when vision has been affected. In that sense, it is necessary that all people take care of their eyes by using sunglasses regularly to prevent the development of diseases, or in case there is a need for prescription glasses, use photochromic lenses such as Augen Parasol, which regulate sunlight exposure.

It is recommended to use sun protection, such as sunglasses that entirely block ultraviolet rays and avoid exposure to the sun during the hours of highest incidence.
